In this workshop, collage is used to bring content into our discovery of basic book
forms. It opens the door for students interested in book binding and construction,
embellished journals, visual sketch books and variations on artist books. Learn four
basic book forms: accordion fold, pamphlet stitch, Japanese stab binding and 4-
Room Book. Use collage for narrative or 2-D designs and explore basic paper
engineering like pop-ups for enhanced visual story telling. Discover the book-
collage idea as art and learn how it brings together the book as both object and
idea, empowering it to become a potent creation in the hands of artists worldwide.
